What the Phthalate?

Phthalates?

Phthalates (pronounced thal-ate) are chemicals often used in plastics and other products that make them flexible, durable, and long-lasting. But the downside is that theyre pretty nasty - they can cause hormone disruption, reproductive issues, and even cancer. Thats why so many products are going phthalate-free. So if you see that on a label, you know its a good thing.

What is a phthalate?

We all know how our nail polish glides on and how our shampoo is thick and gooey - those are thanks to phthalates, which are chemicals used to make plastics more flexible and durable. While they make our lives easier, they're not so great for our health.

What are phthalates in?

Those phthalates are some pesky gelling agents that are in just about anything and everything! From food packaging, to cosmetics, fragrances and more, you eat them, apply them to your skin or even breathe them in. They're usually found in plastics, but also in food, dust, the environment, and even in the air around you. Gross! It's crazy - you can't see, smell or taste phthalates, but they're pretty much everywhere!
Phthalates are often used in scented candle fragrances to help carry the fragrance, which means you're unknowingly breathing them in. However, with our candles you don't need to worry,  you won't find any of that nasty stuff in any of our products.

Why we’re phthalate-free

It's a fact: phthalates are bad for you, your furry friends and the environment. They mess with your hormones and can cause major health issues, like lowered fertility, developmental problems and a greater risk of cancer. So it's a no-brainer: skip the phthalates in your scented candles.

You don't have to worry about any of the bad stuff with us! All of our home scents are phthalate-free, so you can breathe easy. Plus, you can check out all the ingredients we use if you want to know exactly what you're filling your home with.
