Firstly, we appreciate that there are many other high quality options available on the island, and appreciate you taking the time to consider us and to read why we're bringing this product to you.
I'm Netty, the 'Chief Candle Maker' and my family-run business is based at our home in Douglas, Isle of Man. I am passionate about providing you with quality handmade soy candles with a friendly service and economical prices.
My love for all types of candles began when I was young and it's a dream come true for me to now be in this profession, however My Story really begins because I was looking for candles which were free from harmful toxins.
Primarily I was burning lots of tea lights, and those big branded scented candles which can be purchased from almost every high street, however after reading an article on the Paraffin Wax that they use, I was shocked of the dangers I was bringing into our house.
For one, I had no idea that Paraffin is so bad for your health. It's been linked to cancer, skin irritations, allergies, and eczema. And if you're asthmatic, a paraffin wax candle can be a real nightmare, because the air pollution it produces can make asthma flare up.
So, Soy candles all the way, yeah? Not necessarily! Even Soy candles can have hidden dangers lurking in the fragrances used.
After extensive research, I found that most candle fragrances on the market have harmful toxins included such as Phthalates. Now Phthalates are everywhere and in so many things around our homes, it's almost impossible to ensure your home is entirely Phthalate free.
My biggest concern was the number of candles I was burning regularly, and not realising how unsafe they were. I couldn't find anywhere close by where I could purchase Phthalate Free candles, so I decided to make my own.
After completing a Candle Making Business Diploma course, months of testing, and the experience I've gained from crafting candles for friends and family, I feel confident that I can provide this service to other homes in the Isle of Man... and beyond.
Furthermore, as a family we are extremely conscious about the environment and recycle or re-use everything possible. It was also important to me to create products that were environmentally friendly using ingredients and packaging that have been sustainably sourced and are recyclable.
With all that said, I invite you to join me in this mission to bring warmth and safe fragrances to your home in a sustainable way.
